Richard Lochhead has hailed Diageo’s investment in its new visitor experience at Cardhu Distillery after a visit on Friday.

.

The new visitor experience celebrates the distillery’s 200 year history and Cardhu’s pivotal part of the Johnnie Walker story.

It also includes a redesigned story telling experience with a projection room, whisky tasting kitchen and updated tours.

Mr Lochhead described the investment as a boost to whisky tourism in Speyside.

Moray's MSP said: "I was happy to accept an invitation and am grateful to the local team for giving me a tour of the new state-of-the-art centre.

"This opening has been long anticipated and it’s great that the doors have opened to visitors in time for the summer season.

.

"Cardhu is a special distillery with a remarkable story that is at the heart of the new visitor experience.

"Diageo’s investment in Cardhu will be a real boost to whisky tourism in Speyside and the new experience adds a unique offering to visitors, which I’m sure will be hugely popular with whisky enthusiasts.

"The tourism industry has had a tough time due to the pandemic but this investment is a real vote of confidence in Speyside.

"I’ve no doubt that the new experience at Cardhu will attract visitors from across the world once it is safe to do so."
